Sadly, there remain many prejudices against pregnant women and women wishing to return from their maternity leave. Just when you could do without the stress and may be afraid to rock the boat. But the law is based on experience in what works in these situations: which is to raise a formal written grievance. Verbally or in a phone call is not enough.
You can only go to the Employment Tribunals if you have raised a formal written grievance. So you may benefit from having yours professionally written. Please see also our section on Grievances (tab at top of page).
If you go to the Employment Tribunals, you may benefit from being represented as there are many complexities in this type of claim.
