If you have a problem at work this can affect your confidence. Especially if the problem is with a manager, or you do not feel you have management support.

You may have raised it verbally already and got nowhere. That is not unusual. Verbal complaints often fail.

The law gives you the legal right to raise a formal written grievance. That is because if anything is going to work, that is by far and away the most likely to succeed.

If the dispute gets as far as the Employment Tribunals, you can only claim if you have raised a formal written grievance first. So you may benefit from having yours professionally written. Please see also our section on Grievances (tab at top of page).
