Discrimination & Harassment
Complaints of discrimination and harassment can only be taken to the Employment Tribunals if you suspect this treatment is due to your sex, race, sexual orientation, disability, religious beliefs, age or because you are a part time worker.
This also applies to victimisation, which is only recognised in law if you have already made a complaint of discrimination, or given evidence in connection with someone else’s complaint.
You do not need any qualifying period of service – even if you believe you were refused employment on discriminatory grounds. Please see also our section on Grievances (tab at top of page).
You may benefit from being represented in your claim, as there are many complexities in current UK law.
